Adventure awaits

Make lifelong friends and memories guided by experts in the field.

Sail on the Sea of Galilee, explore the vibrant culture of Jerusalem then and now, float in the Dead Sea, ride a camel through the Judean wilderness … Step out of the classroom into the world of the Old Testament and the Gospels. Join us in this unique learning experience as we travel through the Holy Land. This really will be the trip of a lifetime and should not be missed.

While this study tour is primarily run as a part of subjects BIB349 and BIB592, you don't need to be an AC student to join the experience. Pastors, family and friends interested in seeing the wonders of the ancient biblical world are more than welcome to join.

Note: This is a physically demanding tour. Participants must be physically fit in order to participate in this trip. Each day involves prolonged exposure to sun, heat and wind, and includes at least 10,000 steps, mostly climbing or descending significant elevations. We recommend doing physical training before the trip, such as bushwalking and climbing up and down several flights of stairs.

Locations include:

Beit_Shean_Cover copy
Beth Shean/Scythopolis: Once the centre of Egyptian rule in the northern part of Canaan, Beth Shean was rebuilt by Pompey as a “Rome away from home” in 63 BCE. Did you ever imagine you could walk through a Middle Bronze Age temple on the same day as you sat on an ancient Roman theatre?!
Temple-of-Pan-at-Caearea-Philippi
Caesarea Philippi: In the northern region of Israel, we will visit the ancient city of Dan to see the water source of the Jordan River and a Bronze Age gate dating to the time of Abraham! Just around the corner, in the region of Caesarea Philippi, Simon Peter declared to Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God” (Matt. 16:16).
Herodium-aerial-from-northeast-ws031517343-scaled
Herodium: This volcano-shaped hill is one of Herod the Great’s desert palaces. Herod instructed his engineers to demolish a nearby hill to artificially raise the peak of this mountain so that his palace was more visible to the surrounding communities. He quite literally moved a mountain…sound familiar? (Matt. 17:20)
Dome-of-the-Rock-Temple-Mount-Jerusalem
Jerusalem: The religious heart of three major religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam), Jerusalem is home to a rich history and culture. From the Old City, enclosed by ancient walls, narrow streets and historic landmarks such as the Western Wall, Dome of the Rock and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, to the diverse neighbourhoods of East and West Jerusalem, Jerusalem is a must-see destination!
st-george-wadi-qelt
Judean Wilderness: The endless views of sand and rocks, spotted here and there with shepherds and their flocks, will take your breath away. We will have a camel adventure into tranquil open spaces, unlike anything you have experienced before.

Joseph's experience

Joseph Robinson

"The Old Testament Field Trip to Israel has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I spent almost three weeks with the most incredible group of people. I used to read the bible, trying to imagine the historical places. Since visiting Israel, I read the Bible in a new light. I can now see the places in my mind as I read scripture. A highlight of mine was walking the steps of Jesus. I highly recommend The Old Testament Field Trip to anyone considering it. This was the trip of a lifetime for me, and I can’t wait to go back someday!"
